The Cheese and Wine Shop has a great choice of Creams. From Double to Clotted cream, an essential for a West Country Afternoon Tea, or to accompany an indulgent dessert. The Cheese and Wine Shop, being in the middle of The West Country, has a great selection, from Roddas, Dollop and GF Dairy.

When English cheeses are good, they are very, very good. A top-notch Stilton or farmhouse Cheddar is incomparable. The combinations are classic: think of a crumbly slice of Stilton, a ripe pear and a glass of vintage port. Goats Milk Cheeses to please all tastes, from mild creamy Bries to strong biting Blues.

The technique of hard cheesemaking is incredibly varied. A degree difference in milk temperature, methods of cutting the curd, the size of the curd, and so so many hundreds of other factors can equate to a cheese different in style from the next. From Parmigiano-Reggiano, through to a whole world of aged hard cheese from England, Holland, and, of course, Italy. Sublime in a sandwich, grated over pasta, or tucked into an omelet or quiche, any of these would also be a perfect addition to a cheese plate. 

Italian Cheeses, from Pecorino to Mascarpone and Parmesan Reggiano. Italian Cheese is great, for its an essential ingredient in every Chefs fridge. Turn ordinary Pasta into extraordinary with some freshly grated Parmesan. Choose from our ever popular Pecorrino, Parmesan and Taleggios. Then theres our Gorgonzola and Dolcelatte, along with Mozzarella, Ricotta and Mascarpone amoungst others.

Hard cheesemaking is incredibly varied, with many seemingly minor factors leaving a significant impression on the finished Cheese. From a small differential in the milk temperature, to the individual variances and methods of cutting the curd, along with countless other factors all contributing in different ways, thus allowing the cheese makers to produce very different and distinctive Cheeses. The list of variables is almost endless, and its a wonderful thing, as it allows the Cheesemakers to produce such a variety of hard cheese. Pasturised Cheeses, ideal for young and old, and recommended for women who are pregnant. Its argued that the Pasturisaton process destroys key bacteria that are lost to the cheese maker, so if youre outside the groups above, plonk for a Unpasturised Cheese and enjoy its fuller flavour.

Some people like trying to shock guests with a nice strong smelly Cheese. Often, like a big dog with a loud bark, once you get to know them, the bark from the big dog is more like a wimper... so too it is with many of these! See our range of Cheeses that Pong here ...
